Topform Restaurant at S.M. Street near Railway Junction is an authentic Dum Biriyani destination located at one of the busiest streets in Calicut. It serves customers from 7.30 am till 12 midnight throughout the week. Different types of biriyanies available here is what attracts foodies especially during the lunch hours.
S.M. Street is one of the main shopping hubs of the city. Anybody who has been to Calicut knows the importance of this place in the city’s geography. During festive seasons the rush here is just unimaginable.
Topform Restaurant which started in 1975 is one of the main food joints of this area. ‘Dum Biriyani’ is what draws in the maximum number of customers to this restaurant. Other local non-vegetarian cuisines are also available here.
This place is located at the Railway Junction end of S.M. Street in Calicut. From Mananchira Square you need to turn to S.M. Street and travel straight to the other end of the road to get to this restaurant. S.M.Street is often crowded with street vendors, and so it’s advisable not to take your vehicle through this area during peak hours. Topform Restaurant has another branch at Mavoor Road in Calicut which offers much better amenities than the one at S.M. Street. But the feel of the S.M. Street outlet is something to experience.
‘Fish Biriyani’ is prepared in a different manner in this restaurant. Instead of frying the fish and keeping it in the biriyani rice, it is cooked in a way that makes the sear fish used in the biriyani taste as if it has been boiled with slight masalas. The flesh is soft and the masala tastes great with the biriyani rice. ‘Mutton Biriyani’ here is prepared using the mutton that is slaughtered by them. The taste of the fresh mutton reflects in this mouth-watering dish. Bit overwhelming use of tomatoes is a trademark of most of the cuisines available here.
‘Ginger Chicken’ with the strong flavour of ginger and the sweetness of tomatoes and onion leaves behind a lingering taste in your mouth. It’s a dish that complements best with parottas or chappatis.‘Kozhi Nirachathu’ is an item that is available at the Mavoor Road branch of this restaurant only. A full chicken is dunk fried in oil after filling it with minced chicken, egg, green peas and chicken liver. This is a delicious dish that you can try at a very reasonable price.
Pay and parking space is available at S.M. Street just beside the hotel. This three-storeyedr estaurant has an air-conditioned dining area on the top floor. Though the biriyanis taste better at the S.M. Street branch, the Mavoor Road branch is preferable for a family fine dine-in experience.
