Started back in 1974, Tandoor and Andhra Meals restaurants are still the heavyweights in the restaurant scene in Kochi. Although they are two different restaurants, both of them share the same menu and Kitchen. But the main focus of Tandoor Restaurant is their North Indian and Tandoor cuisine dishes while the Andhra meals has the primary focus of Chettinadan cuisine famous in southern part of India.
When you are travelling on Layam Road, from Woodlands Junction at M.G Road, this restaurant is located on the left side of the road just 100 meters from the junction. Although they don’t have much parking space infront of the restaurant they do have some space available on the adjacent road, which is visible from the restaurant.
The quality of their dishes is something which still holds them as one of the top restaurant spots in Kochi after all this time. Tandoori Chicken, Kadai Chicken, Tangri Kebab, Chicken Pepper Fry etc are some of their must try dishes from Tandoor restaurant.
As the hotel itself is named Tandoor, then you have a lot of expectations for the dishes which comes from their Tandoor cuisine. Well Tandoori Chicken, the quintessential dish of any tandoor menu is just exceptional. Tandoori Chicken is marinated with their special masala and has those nicely charred crust and extremely juicy chicken pieces.
Andhra Meals restaurant comes alive for their afternoon special Andhra meals and the rush here is just overwhelming. Tandoor restaurant is more of a dinner and weekend hangout place for Cochin people. Andhra meals restaurant upstairs is more bleakly furnished when compared to the lively ambience of Tandhoor.
Owned Cine artist Krishna, he is often seen in the restaurants, directly overseeing different functions of both places. Although often quoted as bit pricy for Kochi’s standards, this place is still a must visit place for anyone who wish to enjoy some classy Indian cuisine dishes.
