Sri Muruga Café is a small Kerala style eatery situated close to the Mini Bypass Junction at Poonathara near Thripunithara. The unique and rather unconventional combination of Pazham pori and Beef Curry served here between 12.30 pm till 7 in the evening is what made this hotel so famous.
Sri Muruga Café started before the Independence bears the stains of time. It has been serving customers from the British era but the special combo of Pazham pori and Beef Curry was introduced only in 2006 when some patrons who came from Kochi asked for this dish. As the local customers also found the recipe intriguing and interesting it became a regular item on the menu.
‘Pazham pori’-a rather sweet dish made from ripe bananas is served here along with a spicy Beef Curry offering a unique combo to the gourmets who are in constant search of variety cuisines.
You should clear your mind of all prejudices and assumptions in order to enjoy this dish completely. Take a piece of Pazham pori and dip it in the viscous thick gravy of the Beef Curry to relish the unique amalgamation of the special sweet yet spicy flavours.
This café set in the style of ordinary local teashops with bunch of bananas hanging from ropes and hooks and snacks kept inside glass showcases witnesses a heavy rush during the evening.
