Located on the far end of a deserted alleyway is one of the best kept secret of the city. Sri Ayyappa Restaurant is the place to go to if you are a fan of North Indian Vegetarian dishes, which are served to you at a very minimal price. Sri Ayyappa is at Main Road, Chinnakkada, near Indian Bank. The best time to visit this place that opens from 8:30 am to 3:30 fr lunch and 7 pm to 10:30 pm everyday will be during their lunch hours.
There is no better place in Kollam to explain the fact that ambience of a restaurant has nothing to do with the taste of the dishes they serve. Sri Ayyappa Restaurant at Main Road, Chinnakkada, on a small byroad right beside Indian Bank has been the popular choice of Patrons who are a fan of authentic North Indian Cuisine at a very reasonable price.
With a maximum capacity of 20 to 25 customers at a time, this place has a pretty small single dining area furnished with benches and tables. If you want to know what makes the food here so special just turn u at this place during lunch hours and see for yourself. Most of the regular customers they have are North Indians who work at the nearby buildings on the street and they will vouch for its authentic taste. All though the restaurant might be small but they don’t compromise on the quality of the dishes.
Their vegetarian Bombay meals is the main reason for rush during afternoon lunch hours. This meal includes a bowl of white rice, rotti, masala pappad, pickle and 5 different side dishes. They serve a portion of all their popular side dishes with this one itwm so it’s a perfect option if you want to try out most items at one go.
Andhra meal is the counterpart of Bombay meals from the south Indian side. A bowl full of white rice served with dal fry and two side dishes and ordinary pappad along with andra style mango pickle and fried chili. This has enough dishes for decent meals instead of being extravagant like Bombay meals. All most all the vegetarian delicacies of north India are available here at a very cheap price.
Although ambience is not one of their strong points this place has a sense of cleanliness in its own standard. There service is swift and most of the dishes are prepared on order. Finding parking at busy Main road can prove to be a pretty nasty business. One should try hard to find parking as Indian bank building, the tallest of the lot, comes into view. But you wont have much to complain after having food from this place.
