You will almost miss out this Soft hotel which functions beneath the stairway of a building, near City Central mall, on Fort road, Kannur. They are closed on all Sundays and will be open from 12 pm to 9:30 pm every other day, although afternoon hours are the best time to visit this place. Chicken biriyani and ghee rice with chili chicken are the must try dishes from this place.
Soft hotel turns out to be very peculiar in so many aspects. You can miss this place, even if you are just meters away from this place, as this hotel functions in the very constricted space beneath the stairways of a building, which can barely accommodate 12 customers at a time.
Without the signboard outside its almost impossible to know there is such a hotel. But once you have found it, keep all d prejudices away and get into the hotel and the place will surprise you. They have very tidy ambience for such a small hotel, with white mica tables and chairs attached to the walls, which can accommodate two people per table, they have managed the space available to them with complete efficiency. The whole place is brightly lit with the white furnishing compounding the effect, this place although congested, gives you comfortable dining experience once you are seated.
Malabar chicken biriyani, where biriyani is prepared inside the rice itself to preserve the perfect aroma and taste, has soft chicken pieces and right amount of ghee in the rice, is the only biriyani dish they serve from this place. This biriyani and ghee rice with chili chicken is the only dishes served at this restaurant with a highly specific menu card.
The ghee rice they serve with the biriyani has the ditto taste of their chicken biriyani rice and that combined with the the taste of their chili chicken with a lot of onion and garlic pieces makes the overall combination an unforgettable experience.
They have a pretty effective parcel system, where they keep the parcels ready at the cash counter itself, so you can just come, pay and leave with the dish you want, as they have almost double the number of parcel customers as their dine in customers.
Its possible to look as if the place right next to City Centre mall to look closed from Fort road. Another problem with the place is the non available parking area which makes it almost inaccessible during afternoon rush hours. But beside all that, this is a place to try for a different dining experience and good malabari dum biriyani at a reasonable rate.
