Hotel Sehiyon operating for over 15 years now, has recently shifted to their new building at Thammanam-Pullepady Road near Pulleppady Overbridge, is one of a kind restaurant to have all sorts of seafood varieties.
Lunch is the best time to come here as that is when all the dishes are available. Fish is prepared in almost all locally known varieties and every dish competes with the other in terms of taste. If you wish to have all the dishes you want, you better come here by 12 in the afternoon as this place gets filled up by 1 pm with regular customers.
‘Mathy’ and ‘Ayala Pollichathu’ is a specialty of this hotel. It is a unique preparation in which the fish is first grilled and then covered with a thick paste of masala before wrapping it up inside a banana leaf. The strong smell of masala is the first thing that wafts through your nostrils when you open the leaf. Inside, the fish is boiled on one side while fried with masala on the other. ‘Karimeen’ is also available on prior order.
‘MeenMutta Roast’ is another unique dishto try here at a modest price. It is basically eggs of different fishes that are roasted using coconut milk. This delicacy is also prepared with eggs of Sardine (fish)that are available only during June-July.
One of the main attractions of this restaurant is the variety of fishes they offer in same type of preparation. But the taste of the dish varies greatly with the type of fish being used.
Hotel Sahiyon is owned and run by Mathews and his family, who don’t compromise with the quality of food. If you feel the fish is not fresh or the food is not up to the mark, it will always be replaced with some other dish for you. They don’t have any carparking facility but that doesn’t seem to bother the patrons who visit this restaurant.
