What to expect from a restaurant with a name synonymous to ocean other than their seafood varieties. Sagara Restaurant functioning in T.N Samridhi Building at Vazhuthakkadu, which opened back in 2008, quickly made a name for itself with their various dishes like meen mutta thoran, konchu fry, fish curry meals etc. Afternoon lunch hours will be best suited to visit this restaurant which is open from 11 am to 10 pm everyday.
Now this comparatively new restaurant might seem a little out of place, among all the decades old restaurant legends in this city, then its not always how long you served that makes you a favorite but how well you did. Sagara restaurant which opened back in 2008 soon got noticed by the gastronomes in the city for its awesome seafood varieties.
Meen mutta thoran is their most sough for dish, prepared with fish egg, roasted with ample amount scrapped coconut and spices to give a bright yellow dish. The main problem you will face if you want to try this dish, will be the minimal quantity in which it is prepared, so its best to get to the restaurant by the start of their lunch hours itself. Konchu fry with big, fresh prawns, has been first marinated with local masalas before frying to prepare this awesome dish, with good quantity, for you to relish upon.
Fish curry prepared with seer fish is really spicy and has a hot red color, makes their fish curry meals with basic curries and rice, served in a steel plate, a delightful combination for you. Karimeen fry(pearl spot fish), prepared with local spices to marinate the fish and then crisply fried in oil. This mouthwatering dish with its deep fried taste makes for a great add on dish with their afternoon meals.
This restaurant at the ground floor of T.N Samridhi building, has its interior shades painted in blue to give an ocean feel to the overall setup and the whole decor is related to this theme, which includes even the cash counter which has been made in the shape of a local fishing boat. They have divided the main dining area of the hotel into different cabins using translucent glass partitioning and furnished the same using steel chairs with wooden seats and steel tables with granite tops.
They have setup the kitchen in the middle center of the restaurant and is visible to the customers. This restaurant located at Vazhuthakkadu doesn’t have much parking space of its own although its safe to park by the roadside infront of the restaurant.
