For all you fish lovers who longed for an exclusive fish haven, where you can sit and enjoy the fish variants with all the proper amenities of a fine dine restaurant, your wait has finally come to an end. Rice ‘n’ Fish Restaurant has opened their branch in Padamugal, near Kakkanad. Various fish dishes from multiple cuisines are the specialty of this place with a live fish counter that lets you select your fish.
Life of a foodie who loves fish items should be the hardest one in Kerala. Although people in Kerala like fish, there are not many restaurants catering exclusively to the needs of a gourmet who love fish items. Most of them are local eateries that serve just Kerala cuisine dishes and let us face it, has ambience that is just pathetic.
Rice ‘n’ Fish Restaurant is all about leveling this gap in the restaurant industry and meets the needs of fish lovers in Kerala. After their successful venture in Malappuram, they have started a restaurant in Ernakulam, at Padamugal Kakkanad, just two kilometers away from Infopark complex. While coming from Pipeline Junction to Kakkanad, this restaurant is on the right side just before Bharath Petroleum Pump.
Among many of their other facilities, Live fish Counter from the place deserves special mention. Here they display the fish varieties they have for the day in a special freezer shaped to look like a boat. You can select the fish you want, weigh it and order them to prepare the dish in whatever cuisine you want it prepared and the choices seems endless with North Indian, South Indian, Arabic, Grilled, Barbeque, Tandoor etc. Various other dishes like Fish Biriyani and other Arabian fish related dishes are also available in their menu.
They also have a transparent Kitchen policy where they welcome patrons to visit their kitchen and inspect the cleanliness. The whole ambience of the restaurant and its décor seems to be well researched from scratch. They have tried to make every bit of the place connect with sea, boat or fish. The first floor slightly bulges forward and is themed like a boat. Various old boat parts such as anchor, chains, rope and compass are also kept as décor at this place.
All the dishes are prepared on order from their customers and there for has a waiting period. Waiters are good natured and courteous in their approach. Although they are open from 10 am – 11:30 pm, dinner hours are the best time to visit this place. They do take reservations, which seems to be a good idea if you are going to visit this place during weekends.
