This restaurant has been a breath of fresh air for the hotel industry in Kannur. A game changer, Raandhal Restaurant has truly set a standard for other hotels to follow in terms of customer satisfaction, ambience and other minor details. Anyone who visits this restaurant can see the acceptance it has among the populace of the town.
Located at Thalappu near A.K.G. Hospital, this restaurant is accessible both from the road in front of the Kannur Stadium and from A.K.G.Hospital Junction. One of the main advantages of this place is that it is away from the hustle and bustle of the city’s traffic. This comparatively new restaurant gained popularity primarily for serving tasty food.
‘Attin Thala Vattichathu’is one of the costliest items in the menu and you must try it for its sheer taste. This dish is prepared with the brain of mutton. The whole mutton head is marinated and kept. Only on receiving an order from customer, the dish is cooked and served in a huge plate full of gravy. ‘Kallumakaya Biriyani’ is a biriyani variety available in this restaurant. Fried Kallumakkaya inside the biriyani rice has a very different taste altogether. This item is served along with salad and pickle.
‘Chicken Kasthoori’ is also a rare dish to try from here. This dish is nothing but an ordinary ‘Chicken Roast’ modified slightly using Kasthoori flavour. But this small alteration definitely brings about a notable change in the taste of the dish. ‘Beef Cheenichatti’ is another typical Kerala cuisine. Served in a small iron cheenachatti, this dish has very spicy beef pieces roasted with tomato and garnished using coriander leaves.
A live fish counter is also there near the entrance of the hotel where fish and other seafood items are kept inside glass chambers for the patrons to choose from. Customers can also decide how the fish they select should be cooked. A huge parking area is available which is as spacious as the restaurant itself. Credit cards are accepted here and home delivery is also provided.
The ambience of Randhal Restaurant compliments its speciality-Kerala cuisine. It is set up in the style of a ‘Nalukkettu’ with an open area having a fountain in the middle. Chandeliers and various designer lamp shades are used to light up the restaurant. The furnishing is kept classy with wooden tables and chairs.
There is also a special guest dining area outside that is available on request. Raandhal Restaurant has taken care of almost all the aspects required to cater to the needs of its patrons. The customers in turn have also returned the favour by making this place successful and popular.
