When it comes to mutton dishes then there are not many restaurants in Trivandrum that can hold a candle to Rajila Hotel’s famous Mutton dishes. Started back in 1962, this small restaurant still follows the recipes their founder Abdul Rahman used. This restaurant located at Vallakkadavu will be open on all days of the week except for Fridays from 8 am to 8 pm. Mutton dishes to look out for from this restaurant includes Brain, Cur, Perattu, Botty, Soup etc.
Named after his wife, when Abdul Rahman started this shop back in 1962, this was a small restaurant and a butcher shop running side by side. From that to being one of the must-visit places to be for a mutton lover is that of hard work and one helluva recipe.
Currently run by the Grandson of the founder, this place still follows the recipes introduced by the founder. The main reason for their taste is the way they choose their lambs. The buy live lambs aged two to three years and use only that mutton to prepare their dishes. That and their authentic masala taste makes for that special taste that made them legendary among the foodies.
Anything and everything you love prepared with mutton are available here for you to try out. Mutton Brain, Mutton Curry, Mutton Perattu, Mutton Botty, Mutton Soup, Mutton Njalli, Mutton Liver, thus goes on the list of dishes for you to choose from their mutton exclusive menu. Mutton Brain, Liver, Njalli, Balls etc are only available in limited quantity and are prepared on order so its safe to book them if you really want to try them.
Mutton Perattu is a preparation for you if you are looking for something unique to this restaurant with their signature masala. The front portion of the restaurant is also a butcher shop where you can also buy fresh mutton they cut here itself.
Located at Vallakkadavu, near Punnara Bridge on Valyathura Road, Rajila is a favourite go-to place for many celebrities who frequent here. They are located in a bottleneck area where traffic blocks are frequent so finding a suitable parking space can often pose a problem.
