Known for their lunchtime fish and seafood delicacies, Hotel Raja located near Vembayam junction is a seafood lover’s dream come true. Meals, Thalakkari, Mullu curry, Chemeen, Kozhuvaa, koonthal, Neymeen, etc. are some of the varieties that are served at this place. Lunch hours are the best time to visit this restaurant that is open from 12:30 pm to 11:30 pm. They start serving their fast food and Chinese cuisine dishes right after they are finished serving meals.
The rush during their lunch hours will amaze anyone who glances into this place. The customer base of Raja Hotel varies from regular local customers to travelers who travel from or to Trivandrum city. For a restaurant that doesn’t have anything much to boast about the reasonable and yummy dishes they serve, they are indeed doing very well so far.
When you are traveling from Venjarammoodu to Trivandrum city, this restaurant is located just before Vembayam Junction on the left side. They have a very small parking space in front of the restaurant, which in all probability will be occupied during their rush hours. You can find space little down the road by the roadside where you can park your vehicles.
They start a little late, lifting their shutters after 12:30 pm, but serves lunch till 4 pm during which, the place will be jam-packed with customers. Meals served with Kappapuzhukku is definitely one tasty item, but the crowd puller at this place is the variety of seafood cuisines. Different types of fish curries prepared with a choice of fish varieties, Thala curry, fish fries, Chemmeen Roast, Kozhuva fry, Mullu curry, Koonthal, etc. are some among their extensive selections.
They bring the dishes out on a tray from which you can choose the dishes you prefer. Now don’t get hasty and select a dish, just ask them what else is there and much more dishes will be there for you to choose from. They just have a single room dining area at this place, which can only accommodate around 60 people at a time. They have simple plastic chairs and tables for their customers to sit in. As the owner of the place acts both as the waiter and cashier you might have to wait a bit after finishing your meals to pay up. You are also expected to clear the banana leaves in which you are served. If you are a total sucker for seafood, Hotel Raja is one place you can relish on the dishes you want without sweating too much about how much its gonna cost you.
