You must visit Rahmaniya-Kethel’s Chicken once if you are a true chicken lover. The place has on offer tender chicken fry available only here- a unique recipe well known as ‘Trivandrum Kethel’s Chicken’. They have branches in all three major cities in Kerala- Cochin, Trivandrum and Calicut. Chicken with gee rice or chapati is the only dish you get at this place.

How about trying a recipe that has been around for 60 years for a change? ‘Kethel’s Chicken’ is a special item and in fact the only dish available in Hotel Rahmaniya at A.J. Residency in Kaloor. If you are a connoisseur of chicken dishes,  then this one is recommended.

Kethel, the person who made the recipe almost four decades ago,had established his first shop in Trivandrum. But now it has expanded its reach to other major cities in Kerala like Cochin and Calicut. They have one more restaurant in Eranakulam located at Centre Square Mall in M.G.Road. The only item on their menu is this unique preparation using Kethal’s recipe teamed up with either ghee rice or chapati.

They only use chicken that are reared in their own farm. They use the meat of the chicken that is 60-70 days old as the chicken this young is tender and tastes best. The recipe is a closely guarded secret of Kethel’s family and is passed on from generation to generation.

‘Kethels Chicken’ looks delicious.The tender chicken is marinated with special masalas and fried to a stark red colour before garnishing with red chilli seeds. The masala used for the preparation is made by them only. You can also get the taste of fried egg mixed with chicken while you savour this dish.

Both the ghee rice and chapati go well with the chicken fry.  They also serve pickle and lemon juice instead of water along with the dish.

The restaurant has a single spacious hall laid out with different-sized tables that can accommodate couples to half a dozen people. This place is open from 11 am to 11 pm year long except in the morning during the Holy Muslim month of Ramzan. But the best time to come here would be during lunch or dinner hours.
