Located directly opposite Civil Station, Kalpetta, Oottupura restaurant’s customer base mainly comprises of bureaucrats and people who visit the government institutions nearby. Afternoon meals and special fish fry are the dishes to try from this restaurant.
Homemade food is their slogan and that’s what you will get. Oottupura restaurant located right at the center of Kalpetta town doesn’t have any Kitchen, instead they prepare all the food at the owners home and bring it to this restaurant and serve their customers. As they don’t make any food their its safe to reach this place early in the afternoon before the food gets over.
The speed with which this place gets filled in the afternoon shows the acceptance this place has among the local customers. Oottupura restaurant is situated on National Highway 212, directly opposite Civil Station, Kalpetta. Another branch of this restaurant is located opposite New Bus Stand, Kalpetta and a sister concern by the same name is there at Meenanghadi too.
Served with the simplicity of a proper homely meal, they serve their dishes in banana leaves and don’t have anything extravagant about it except for the luscious Payasam they serve with their meals. Three side curries which include Chammandhi and Avail and a choice of gravies are served with their meals to make your lunch complete. Fish fry dishes, which are limited to just two varieties per day is fired without losing the juiciness inside is something you can look forward to gorge with their meals.
Beef Roast is another side dish to try among the few other side dishes available at this restaurant. Mildly spicy dish prepared in Kerala Style has the mouth watering taste of perfect masala combination.
Restaurant functions in a house converted into a restaurant, whose bedrooms and halls are converted into dining areas. They have also converted the porch infront of the house too into a dining area with tarpaulin sheets and furnished it with plastic chairs and tables to accommodate the customers during peak hours. A they don’t have any parking area, finding parking infront of the restaurant can prove to be an strenuous task and the only option is to park somewhere down the roadside.
