One of the best fine dine restaurants in Palakad town. Thalasseri Dum biriyani, kudukka biriyani, fish mango curry, spicy fried chicken are some of the dishes you must try from this restaurant. They have two restaurants in Palakad town, one opposite Kotta Maidhanam, near to district hospital, another at G.B road, near to Town railway station, both open every day from 8 am to 12 am.
Well, good food is just one of the qualities that make a perfect restaurant; proper dining experience is also quintessential quality to look forward too. Its that overall quality they maintain that makes you love Noorjahan restaurant.
They started their first restaurant in 1950 at G.B road, near Town railway station, and quickly got noticed for their own special Dum biriyani. This restaurant was setup by P.C Hameed and currently the third generation of his family is overseeing the business. Apart from expanding the first hotel, they also opened another restaurant near to District Hospital, opposite Kotta maidhanam and they also have a pretty good catering service too.
Although both the restaurants serve same dishes, G.B road restaurant has the main objective of accommodating maximum customers. If better amenities and parking area is your prime concern its better to visit the restaurant near District hospital.
Their special dum biriyani has semi fried chicken pieces, unlike the usual boiled chicken pieces seen in Dum biriyanies, but that being said these biriyanies are in a class of its own by its taste. Kudukka biriyani from them, served in an earthen pot along with salad and pickle, had a deep orange and excess of coriander used in it, which resembled the Tamil Nadu style biriyani, in its looks and taste.
Another dish, best tried with their appam or porotta is Fish Mango curry. This yummy dish, usually prepared with Avoli fish, has yellowish gravy and a slight sour taste resulting from the raw mangoes used in its making. Spicy fried chicken is another delicacy that is sweet on the first bite and gets spicy as you chew on. Unique taste of this dark and superb dish is mainly due to the spring onions and pepper balls go into the preparation of the dish. Lunch time buffet at this restaurant is also pretty popular.
They have two main dining areas at this restaurant, one on the ground floor and one beneath it, which experiences heavy rush during their lunch and dinner hours. Parcel customers have a good waiting lounge and you can park their vehicles on the parking field right next to the restaurant.
