This restaurant at N.M.R Junction, Harikar street, near to B.J.P district office offers its customers special Tamil Nadu style biriyani. Lunch hours are the best time for you to pop into this restaurant, which is open from 11 am to 8 pm.
Its another restaurant from Palakad which doesn’t believe believe in pomp and display, but attracts customers for the taste and variety of dishes they serve. You can be doubtful from the looks of the place, whether you have reached the wrong place but the best way to solve that would be to get in, and try one of their biriyanis.
N.M.R biriyani house can be reached easily once you reach Sulthanpett Junction in Palakad town. Restaurant is right after a small temple in the middle of the road, after making a right at the third junction from Sulthanpett Junction, towards Court Road. The roads leading to the restaurant are congested and the heavy rush during their lunch hours doesn’t help either.
Biriyanies from this restaurant distinguishes itself with its spiciness and the extravagance of coriander used in it. They use a special type of preparation that is a hallmark of region extended from Palakad to Salem, which gives their biriyani reddish orange color unlike the white biriyanies available in rest of Kerala. Their chicken biriyanies served along with Kaycharu, chicken gravy, salad and a single chicken piece inside is also much cheaper than the usual biriyanies.
Mutton biriyani, which is costs almost double than their chicken biriyani, is very spicy like the rest of their biriyanies. Along with the well broiled mutton pieces, they also serve an egg wrapped inside the biriyani rice. Beef biriyani, which is the cheapest among the lot, has pretty good demand for giving maximum bang for your bucks. Spicy but dry chunks of beef covered in biriyani rice are served with side dishes. Chili chicken, beef chili and beef fry are some of the main side dishes available at the place to try along with the biriyanies.
This restaurant operates from two dining areas on opposing sides of the street, but they prepare the dishes in a single kitchen itself. It also has a very effective parcel service, as they handle take away customers almost on par with their dine in customers. Granite topped tables and plastic stools are the main furniture used to furnish their dining areas which gets all sorts of customers from locals to executives. They also has a good parking facility available near the restaurant where you can park your vehicles safely and have a pleasing culinary experience.
