Another famous and trusted name in the restaurant industry in Thrissur is Navaratna Restaurant located at Naduvilal in Thrissur Round, just before the turning towards M.G.Road. This multi-cuisine restaurant offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is open every day of a week from 10 am to 11 pm.
Navaratna Restaurant Naduvilal in Thrissur Round predominantly concentrates on North Indian cuisine. And this is one of those few restaurants in Thrissur that has separate areas for accommodating vegetarian and non-vegetarian customers. In fact, the vegetarian restaurant on the ground floor is named Navaratna while the non-vegetarian one on the first floor is called Reach Us.
This hotellocated at one of the popular landmarks of the town has every quality of a well-equipped restaurant but has some basic problems too. One major drawback is the absence of parking area. If you are coming here by car or bike, you need to leave your vehicle in any of the paid parking areas nearby or park it along the roadside. And most of the roads near the hotel being parking restricted areas, it only adds to your inconvenience.
But the restaurant has not compromised with anything to give you a fine dining experience. From its cabin-like sitting arrangements furnished with cushions to use of soft lights, the place has a feel-good ambience. While green is the theme of the vegetarian area, the non-vegetarian dining hall has been decked up with red colour.
Service provided by cordial waiters in uniform is also commendable. The hotel certainly qualifies as a well-maintained family restaurant with good food. ‘Paneer Kadai’ is a frequently ordered item from the vegetarian menu. It is served over a small burner to keep the dish warm till one has it. Though the taste of the dish is not as good as its presentation, it is definitely worth a try.
The special ‘Chicken Biriyani’ from this restaurant is a very good main course item that you must try. It is different from the conventional biriyanis and tastes superb. In this, fried pieces of chicken are served with fried rice. Chicken gravy is also provided separately.
‘Murgh Tawa Masala’ is another popular North Indian dishavailable here. The dish has pieces of chicken dunk in awesome gravy and is served hot in a sizzling steel plate put inside a wooden platter.
Overall, it can be said with aplomb that Navaratna Restaurant is the place to be if you are an ardent fan of North Indian cuisine.
