Location Note: This restaurant located inside Chala Market at Ruby Nagaris quite impossible to reach by a vehicle. So, it is better to leaveyour car or two-wheeler at the pay and parking lot in Gandhi Park and walk down the road beside Sree Padmanaba Theatre for 500 metres to reach the hotel.
One of the most renowned hotels in the capital city for seafood items- Mubarak Hotel inside Chala Market is well-known for its great fried fish delicacies. Except Sunday this restaurant behind Sree Padmanabha Theatre is open from 11:30 pm to 8 pm on all other days. Some of the best dishes to try from this place would definitely be Neymeen Fry, Konchu Fry, and Netholi Fry.
Well if you are visiting Mubarak Hotel for the first time you might be left wondering what’s all the fuss about this restaurant is. A small, old eatery with unappealing looks attracts hundreds of customers nothing but for its tasty food and the rush during the lunch hour bears witness to this fact. A favourite among many politicians who visit the capital city of Trivandrum, Mubarak Hotel has been around for 35 years now and its popularity is steadily on the rise.

Once in make your way through the small grill gate and quickly grab any seat you see, especially if you come during the afternoon rush hours.
In fact the place gets so busy during the lunch time that sometimes the grill gate have to be closed once the restaurant is houseful. To avoid such inconvenience and heavy rush it is advisable to come here during its opening time. No matter what, a visit to Mubarak Hotel won’t be complete without having at least one of the fried fish dishes offered here. ‘Konchu Fry’ is one of the most ordered item of this restaurant. The prawns are deep fried till crispy and have a great taste of masala. This dish is worth the money you pay for it. ‘Neymeen Fry’ is a special fry item prepared with Seer fish that almost melts in your mouth. This dunk fried fish is served five pieces per plate. You will usually at least 10 varieties of fish fries readily available during the lunch time here.
‘Netholi Fry’comprises deep fried crispy pieces of Anchovy fish in superb masala. Comparatively big fishes are used in this preparation which is famous for its crunchiness and rich oily taste. ‘Meals’ served in banana leaves are the only main course item you get here during the afternoon. Served with kappappuzhukku and four other curries, the tasty meals are available all throughout the day.
The furnishing of the restaurant is kept simple with wooden stools and steel chairs arranged in rows to accommodate maximum number of customers. There is also a family room situated a bit away from the main restaurant. So if the dining hall is full then ask for the family room.
