Situated inside Jaya auditorium complex, this restaurant is open from 11 am to 11 pm everyday. Afternoon hours are the best time to visit this restaurant and their must try dishes are thalasseri biriyani, chiratta biriyani, chicken kangada, chicken sulthana, meen pollichathu etc.
Mayflower restaurant, with its two different types of dining areas, tends to the needs of all classes of customers. This restaurant has an ordinary dining area for their regular and local customers and an air conditioned much more premium dining area furnished elegantly for their high value clientele.
This multi cuisine restaurant with north Indian, south Indian and Chinese cuisines, is located at comparatively far less crowded area of the town, near to Thali temple. Situated inside jaya auditorium complex, this place has good parking area inside the complex and easy accessibility from Palayam Junction adds to the attraction.
They have gone one step over others in displaying their live fish counter. Here they have converted live fish to ‘alive’, where you can select your fish from the large aquariums in their lobby and it will be cooked in the manner you prefer. Various seafood specialties are displayed in glass refrigerators for their customers to choose from.
Fish pollichathu is such a seafood variety to try, prepared with fish wrapped inside banana leavesafter marinating in Kerala masalas. Although it had a bit loose gravy for this kind of preparation, with the fresh fish and Kerala spices, it felt delightful. Taste of cashew paste is the first thing you will notice in the oily gravy of chicken kangeda, a tasty dish from their north Indian cuisine. Garnished using boiled egg white, this tangy tasting dish is a yummy combination with any of their main course.
Chiratta biriyani as its name depicts is served in coconut shell. But that’s not all; this dish has a different taste, courtesy of the three different masala combinations used in its preparation, where they stuff coconut shell with rice and chicken and steam it on order. Thalasseri dum biriyani, served along with pickle salad and chammandhi is also available here.
This place, even after being inside the city, is away from all its rushes. This accessibility and ease to reach, combined with good food and excellent service and facilities makes this place an attractive option when you try to find a restaurant in the city.
