This is one small lunchtime eatery that has been serving customers for the last 30 years on the National Highway. Madhu Hotel got famous among its customers for their scrumptious meals and varieties of seafood and freshwater fishes they serve to their customers. Open from 12 pm to 3 pm, this restaurant is located at Cherthala near X-Ray Junction. Meals, Prawns Fry, Varal Curry, Karimeen fry etc are some of the must-try dishes from this restaurant.
Madhu Chettan and his small hotel are very familiar to every foodie who travels through National Highway between Kochi and Alappuzha. Seafood and freshwater varieties are the must-try dishes from Madhu Chettan’s small one-room restaurant. This small eatery can stun you both with its wide varieties as well as the unique taste of their dishes.
When you are traveling from Kochi towards Alappuzha on the national highway, this small eatery is located on the right side, next to X-Ray junction and opposite KVM Hospital. They have a small parking space available in front of the restaurant by the roadside itself.
The sheer number of dishes they serve here will blow your mind away. Some of their most demanded items include Varal curry, Neymeen Fry, Konchu fry, Avoli curry, Karimeen Fry etc. The secret to their awesome taste will be two-fold – The care with which they select the fishes they use for the dishes and their amazing homemade recipe. All their curry dishes are prepared at home and brought to the restaurant and for their fried dishes; they bring those marinated from home and fry them on order at the restaurant. Some of the fish items or seafood will be missing from the menu if they didn’t get the quality item from the local market.
Madhu Chettan is the all in all at this place. He is the head chef, customer relations executive, waiter, and owner at this restaurant. Although there are few more people to help him out, Madhu Chettan looks after almost all aspects of the restaurant. If you require anything specific, it will be best if you call and order it prior to reaching here. You can go into the kitchen and select the dish you want before sitting down.
This one room old style lunchtime eatery has four tables and benches for their customers to sit in. If you order fry dishes, there is a slight delay before the dishes are served. If you are coming during their peak hours, you may even have to wait before you can find a table. But at the end of the day, no one actually minds these minor discomforts as they get to enjoy some of the best seafood treats in Alapuzha.
