Hotel Kuttappas is one of the oldest and famous hotels in Thodupuzha. Located at Kanjiramattom Road near the Department of Education Complex, this restaurant attracts the attention of locals especially for their afternoon meals and ‘Pazhampori’ that they serve in the evenings. You can enjoy the delicacies here from 7 am to 7 pm on all weekdays except Sunday.
This small restaurant on the outskirts of Thodupuzha serves the best afternoon meals and ‘Pazhampori’ in the town. Originally started by P.S.Kuttappan in the year 1968, you can find this eatery while traveling down the Kanjiramattom Bypass. Located just 100 metres away from theKanjiramattom Road near the Department of Education Complex, Hotel Kuttapans lacks parking area but most people park their vehicles along the roadside only.
Though the meals served in steel plates with two side curries, pickle, pappad and salad looks quite ordinary, their taste is what distinguishes them from other restaurants. The pouring of extra sour ‘Pulissery’with the rice is indeed a special way to savour the afternoon feast.
The evening special ‘Pazhampori’ is also very popular among their patrons. This local snack item of Kerala which is usually made by dipping banana in a batter and then frying in oil, is prepared here a bit differently. The experts of Hotel Kuttappas add sesame seeds to the batter to make the ‘Pazhamporis’ even more crispier, giving a bit of salty touch to an otherwise sweet dish.
The main customers of this restaurant are the employees working in the nearby government offices and other establishments here. This eatery has a single dining spacewith a simple furnishing that renders this place a very ordinary look. There are also two separate areas covered with screens for the ones visiting with family. Lunch time draws in a big crowd here but if you want to try the ‘Pazhampori’ then the best time would be to go after 3:30 pm in the evening. In case you want to pack in some of the hot crispy ‘Pazhamporis’ for your loved ones, Hotel Kuttappas offers you a comparatively fast parcel service too.
