Local Chicken Pirattu dish made this small restaurant noticeable among the gourmets in the district. Hotel Krishna is located at Kattachalkuzhi near Government L.P School and is open from 10 am to 9 pm on all days of the week. Dinner hours will be the best time to visit this place, which serves Chicken Perattu and Chicken Thoran as their main dishes.
When you get nearer to this place, it is common to doubt if there is anything at all in this wilderness, as you are going to feel you are in the middle of nowhere. However, you better believe and move forward to get to Krishna Hotel, which even techies from Techno Park regularly visit during their weekend pilgrimage for this ultimate culinary nirvana.
This small restaurant is located just 300 meters away from Government L.P School Kattachaalkuzhi. When you are traveling from Balaramapuram to Vizhinjam, turn right directly opposite to Coconut Research Centre and travel a kilometer to reach this restaurant on the right side of the road. As there are some new restaurants, which recently emerged on the same road, look for the nameplate and stop only when you see this place. They do not actually have their own parking area, but you can park on the roadside as there is very less traffic at this place.
Krishna hotel was started some 20 years back by Krishnan Kutty, who had experience in local cuisine dishes from the toddy shop he was running till then. Among their very limited menu, Chicken Perattu is the dish that got this place a cult following. Chicken pieces for this preparation are marinated and kept for hours before roasting in oil. Prepared with local chicken species for its preparation instead of broiler chicken, the taste of this dish comes from the special masala along with which they roast the chicken pieces.
Chicken Thoran is another one of the local cuisine dish available here. Porotta, Dosha or Kappa, Puttu are the choice of dishes you can choose to have along with their chicken varieties. Although they serve meals during afternoon hours, their dinner time is the best time to visit this restaurant. They have a live kitchen in front of the hotel where you can see all the dishes being prepared.
Parcel customers who are in need of large quantity can order prior, which will be ready by the time you reach the place. They serve the Chicken Perattu dish in kilo to their parcel customers. This restaurant is actually a small house converted into hotel with wooden tables and benches as main furniture.
If you want to try authentic local cuisine dishes and wouldn’t mind roaming around a little for this Krishna Hotel, approximately 15 kilometers from the city, is a place you shouldn’t miss.
