Ifthar celebrates Malabar special snack items. Located at Edapally Toll Junction opposite Pittapallil Agencies near Lulu Mall, this restaurant opens at 10 in the morning and shuts only at 1 after midnight every day of the week. Kilikoodu, Mutta Mala, Kaypola, Omana Pathiri are some of the main dishes to try from here.
Though Malabar restaurants are not new in the city, the authentic taste of the dishes is what helped Ifthar grab the attention of foodies in Eranakulam. The location is also a major reason behind its popularity.
Situated at EdapallyToll Junction near Lulu Mall and directly opposite Pittapallil Agencies, this restaurant sees a heavy flow of customers all the time especially during the evening. They have another branch at Aluva near Alukkas Junction. There is a good parking lot available on the front side of the restaurant.
Ifthar has in offering an array of snack items to choose from.‘Kilikoodu’ is a unique dish both in terms of look and taste among the lot. A mixture made of quail eggs and chicken masala is wrapped with semiya and fried in oil till crispy to give the shape of a bird's nest. ‘Mutta Mala’ is another peculiar dish prepared using egg and sugar. Egg white is made into a pudding while the yolk of the egg is squeezed out on top of it to prepare this sweet sugary delight.
‘Kay Pola’ is a typical Malabar dish cooked to perfection. Dry fruits, banana and egg are the main ingredients used in this preparation.‘Omana Pathiri’ is something that looks similar to a ‘Frankie’. The pathiri (pancake made of rice flour) is stuffed with egg and chicken kheema and rolled into a cylinder.
Ifthar has two main dining areas- ac and non-ac set side by side with different entrances and colourful décor. There is also a good juice and shakes lounge to woo customers with cool beverages. They accept credit cards here and catering works for various occasions are also undertaken.
