Known for the famous Guruvayurappan Temple, Guruvayur attracts masses of Hindu pilgrims and tourists from all around India. Like every major places which attracts a lot of floating population, one thing which this place has plenty is restaurants. As a Hindu Pilgrim place, most of the restaurants around the place are vegetarian, and choosing one can turn out to be quite difficult task as most of them looks similar.
Woodlands hotel, situated close to the East Nada of the Guruvayur temple is a good one to choose among the array of restaurants. A pure vegetarian hotel that started in the year 2000, there snacks items are the much acclaimed for by their patrons. Masala dosa which is a bit dry and hard to tear with one hand has exceptionally tasty potato masala stuffed inside, which served with good thick thengha chutney and sambar makes for a tasteful combination. Ney roast served in a conical shape should be had hot and crispy to get its right taste. This dish is served with the same side dishes as their Masala dosa.
Soft and big poories served with masala and chutney are there another must try dish. Has a very soft and puffy shape, is very tasty with its masala and chutney with less oil than the usual poories. With the smell of agarbathies and camphor burning in the air, restaurant maintained with pristine conditions and the interior decorated with the pictures of gods and goddesses of Hindu religion, the restaurant has an ambience that goes hand in hand with the overall experience of Guruvayur.
Restaurant has two stories with the first floor completely dedicated to the family customers. They have no parking space and its not possible to park anywhere close to the place as the restaurant is so near to the temple. Its better to park at many of the paid parking facilities available near the temple premises. Uniformed waiters are there to serve food and they know what they do. Special Hindu holidays and all can see this place overflowing with customers.
