Hotel Buhari at Attakulanghara Junction serves customers 24x7 and is famous for its evening special dishes. Puttu and Mutton Chaps, Mutton Roast, Chappathi and Chicken Fry, Mutton Brain Roast are some of the must-try items from this restaurant.
Even though Trivandrum is Kerala’s capital, most of the restaurants here close down by 11o’ clock in the night at the most. Hotel Buhari at Attakulanghara Junction established way back in 1956 is the first restaurant in the city to operate 24x7 from the time it was started. This restaurant is depended by lot of people especially for the late night services offered here.
They have some dishes that became famous because of their taste and reasonable price. ‘Puttu and Mutton Chaps’ is one of such combination. A dish that is only available after 7 pm, the freshly made Puttu is piping hot and is best relished with the spicy mutton gravy. The mix of both these items is indeed a treat for your taste buds. Another popular mutton recipe here is the ‘Mutton Roast’. This dish looks quite similar to the ‘Mutton Chaps’. It has thick masala gravy with slight rubbery mutton pieces.
‘Chicken Fry’ is one of the dishes most in demand during the evening hours. The chicken is so deeply fried that it feels slightly burnt while the masala used renders it a dark maroon colour. Altogether, it makes for a very tasty dish.
Customers awaiting to take away parcels are also seen in plenty during the night. The restaurant has a wide single dining hall laid out with plastic chairs and steel tables with granite tops. Aesthetics or comfort has not been given much priority when comes to furnishing.
Non-availability of parking space is the main disadvantage of Hotel Buhari. Serving customers round the clock the cleanliness of this place needs attention. There is a juice parlour attached to the hotel. They also have a Chinese cuisine restaurant just across the street.
Availability of tasty food all throughout the day is what makes this restaurant a favourite among its customers. The peak hours here are during the lunch time and after 8 o’ clock in the evening.
