The success of this hotel is another example of Kannur towns never ending obsession with meals and fish fries. Meals, Ayakooor fry, Koonthal fry, Chemeen fry are some of the best dishes to try from Hotel Anandha Bhavan on Fort road Kannur, opposite Grand Plaza. The best time to visit this restaurant that is closed on all Sundays and opens from 7 am to 5 pm every other day will be during their lunch hours from 12 pm to 4 pm.
If you go to this town, one thing you won’t have any difficulty in finding will be a decent meal and fish fry to accompany it, as this place is dotted with so many restaurant that’s serves exactly that. Getting noticed among so many restaurants for the exact dish that is so commonly available is a herculean task Hotel Anandha Bhavan has so easily seem to achieve.
If you goes to Anandha Bhavan Hotel during lunch hours, their acceptance among the populace of Kannur will be evident. The most intriguing part about it is that, weather its the ambience or the food they serve, one can’t find any visible difference between this restaurant and other ordinary hotels in the city.
But the afternoon lunch hour rush is something out of ordinary at such an ordinary looking restaurant. Served with two side curries and pickle in banana leaves, their meals won’t be complete without the tasty ayakoora fish fry, which is sear fish pieces slightly fried over hot thawa with very less tangy masalas to give a mouthwatering dish.
Deep fried prawns that have black color masala is another hot selling dish after their fish fries with meals. This dish has masala flakes spread over the dry prawn pieces to add to its already mind blowing taste. Koonthal roast is another delicacy, which has been deeply roasted masala spread thickly over the pieces to give a tangy taste.
Dining during lunch hours can get a bit uncomfortable in their old dining area in square shape. They have furnished the dining area with wooden stools and tables and it melts into the retro ambience of the hotel.
They have pretty active parcel service as there are equal number of parcel customers as their dine in customers. Its almost impossible to find parking during their rush hours, so you will be better off if you park your vehicles at the pay and park service in the shopping complex right opposite to the mall.
