Maybe its that association we make with Brahmins and vegetarian food that makes us believe if its a Brahmin Vegetarian restaurant then it should be good. Ganesh Bhavan doesn’t disappoint at all. This pure Vegetarian Restaurant is located opposite Mini Civil station, behind Railway station, Kuttippuram. Closed on all Sundays, this restaurant will be open on every other day from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and serves superb Meals in the afternoon and all other South Indian snacks dishes in the morning.
There are few restaurants at peculiar places which amazes you with its simplicity and tasty dishes. Ganesh Bhavan, a Brahmin veg restaurant behind Kuttippuram Railway station is one such place. Quality vegetarian dishes are their speciality and their afternoon lunch hour’s rush is pretty much self explanatory considering the taste of the dishes they serve.
Meals they serve in traditional Kerala style in banana leaves is just amazing. They serve two different koottu curries, one upperi, pickle, curd and Payasam . They serve either ari, ada or semiya Payasams each day and all their side curries get swapped everyday too.
Ganesh Bavan which started back in 1977 was founded by Anantha Iyyer and is presently run by his son Srinivasan aka Mani Swamy. As this is a family run business every dishserved here has that homely touch which is much appreciated by their regular patrons. The present owners worked in various famous vegetarian hotels all over Kerala before taking over the family business.
If you are travelling by train you can pre order dishes from them and it will be served to you at kuttippuram. Same goes to the people travelling on highway too. If you don’t want the hassle of coming down here, they will serve you the dishes on the highway for you to take away.
Although lunch time sees most rush, their breakfast dishes such as Idli Vada, Appam, Poori Masala, Dosa, etc are also mind blowing and has lots of takers. Although they have a pretty old and small ambience it has that cleanliness and decent feel to it which is also a main reason why people like this place.
