Started back in 1940, seven years before independence, Farsa Hotel is a name people of Manjeri know by heart. Beef Biriyani is their most famous dish followed by Chicken Biriyani and Porotta & Beef Fry combo. This restaurant is located right next to Central Juma Masjid on Pandikkad Road and will be open from 5:30 am to 11 pm everyday. Lunch and dinner hours are the best time to give this place a visit.
Even though this place has gone through renovations multiple times when you enter Farsa Restaurant, you can in a way feel its rich history. Started back in 1940 by Mr Marakkar, they started by serving Kappa and Beef to their customers. Now they have come a long way from it and the third generation members are currently running the restaurant.
Nowadays their Beef Biriyani is taken the fancy of people in Manjeri. The most peculiar thing about the Beef Biriyani they serve is the presence of a boiled egg they serve with the biriyani. The two chunks of beef pieces are well cokked and the masala itself is enough to fish a whole plate of rice. Chicken Biriyani is also quite good but not on par with the taste of their beef biriyani.
Porotta and Beef fry combo is their most sought after item during breakfast and evening hours. Thinck gravy beef fry and freshly cooked porottas are available almost all throughout the day. They have an extensive menu card but during lunch hours people usually prefers their Biriyani or meals.
This restaurant is located just 100 meters from the junction on Pandikkad Road, right next to Central Juma Masjid. As they are right at the centre of the town they don’t have any parking area although they have another vegetarian restaurant on the same road and a multi cuisine restaurant in the bypass which has much more facilities and parking area.
They have a two floor arrangement in which they have allotted the first floor for their family customers. If you are anything over 6 feet, then dining on the first floor can get tricky as the ceiling height is quite narrow.
During dinner hours their a la carte menu is most active with dishes like ginger chicken, masala chicken etc getting ordered more. Evening special snacks items like Maal Pori, Paal Cake, Vettu cake etc are also prepared here itself.
