An ultimate destination for all ‘Puttu’ lovers-Dhe Puttu offers a wide variety of ‘Puttus’ to choose from. This restaurant located at Edappally Bypass between Lulu Junction and Oberon Mall, is open from 12 pm to 12 am week long. Lunch and dinner hours are the best time to visit this unique eatery.
This restaurant gained instant success when it was opened in 2013. Dhe Puttu is owned by Dileep, a well-known film actor and Nadirsha, another famous person from the film industry. But the main reason behind the wide popularity of this restaurant is the unique ways in which ‘Puttu’, one of the most common dishes available in Kerala is served. Varieties of ‘Puttus’are available here, each named after a movie in which Dileep has acted in.
This restaurant is located at Service Road on Edapally Bypass near Edappally junction. When you travel from Lulu Junction to Oberon Mall, you can spot this hotel on the left side of the highway. A spacious parking area is available just next to the restaurant building. Dhe Puttu also has a branch at Sub Jail Road near Puthiyara in Calicut.
‘Meeshamadhavan’ has an awesome combination of dry meat in rice and wheat flour. Like the blockbuster movie of Dileep it is named after, this dish too is a huge hit among the patrons here. It is the item most in demand from the menu of this restaurant. ‘Kunjikoonan’ is a puttu variety, aptly named after a movie in which Dileep plays the role of a hunchback. This dish is prepared inside a coconut shell and looks like the hump on a hunchback. It has a combination of chemba and white rice powder and chicken kheema topped up with quail eggs.
‘Runway Puttu’ is also a very tasty dish to try. Rice and chemba puttu is filled with prawns, meat and chicken kheema at three different sections. Each section of this dish has a different taste because of these unique fillings. ‘Avatharam’ is a peculiar looking but tasty dessert served at this restaurant. It comprises puttu made from a combination of chocolate brownie in rice flour topped with fig and honey ice cream. This is a very unique dish to try for its sheer variety.
The ambience of this restaurant is set up with a theme of Puttu and Dileep’s movies. The restaurant has a single fully air-conditioned dining area. Weekend dinners here are usually jam packed. So, it is advisable to reserve tables before coming. Credit cards are accepted here. Home delivery service is also available.
Service provided at Dhe Puttu is exemplary. They take orders on tablet computers which are immediately displayed in the kitchen. This makes the service more efficient and quick. Most of the dishes available here are unique to this restaurant alone.
