Sometimes you don’t need elaborate menu or variety of cuisines to love a restaurant, as long as they are good at what they serve. 65 year old C.P. Hajees restaurant is near KSEB bhavan on Gandhi road, Vallayil will be open from 4 am to 10 pm everyday. Beef chili, beef fry and Kada fry are the main items to try from this place and evening time when they start serving these dishes are the best time to pay a visit to this place.
Apart from the fact that it has been functioning at the very same spot for more than 65 years, there is nothing extra ordinary about C.P Hajees restaurant. It looks like any other ordinary food hub in the city and even their menu has nothing elaborate that makes one raise an eyebrow but you can see customers, mainly locals swarming this restaurant in the evening hours.
C.P Hajees restaurant is located at Vallayil, near KSEB Bhavan on Gandhi road and can be accessed easily from Beach road. The street in front of the restaurant is pretty narrow and its almost impossible to park vehicles, except two wheelers.
One of the most demanded items from this place is Beef chili, roasted with ginger, garlic and kashmiri chili paste, to give a very dry dish with small pieces, hot red color and mouthwatering taste. With its peculiar color and tangy taste, beef fry from this place has dark green color due to green chilies used in the preparation of this dish
Dabbed with special masala and deep fried in oil, Kada fry prepared at this hotel with quail is a yummy dish to try. The small frame of the quail and its variety tasting flesh goes great with the masala and the deep fry method they use. These dishes are available only in the evening but you can try their varities of biriyani dishes, all available at the same rate, during their lunch hours.
This restaurant has a single dining area with plastic chairs and wooden tables, all of which has an old and battered look. The service staff has a very informal approach as most of the customers are regulars and knows each other on first name basis. This place has some good dishes but that’s all they have to offer, everything else is pretty much in slumbering mood.
