The best thing about Chinoose is that you don’t need deep pocket to relish on the dishes served at this restaurant. Situated right at Palayam junction, first floor of a building on Kallayi road, every dish from this restaurant is very cheap. Kappa & thalakkari, chicken nadan, chicken porichathu are some of the main dishes to try from this place, which is closed on all Sundays and opens from 6 pm to 12 pm on every other day.
Why this place has‘seafood’ in its name is still a mystery even its owners can’t solve. Of course, they do serve seafood dishes, so do they serve almost all other non vegetarian dish that you can find in Kerala ‘thattukada’ is available here.
Functioning on the first floor of a building at Palayam junction, on the road towards Kallayi, Chinoose restaurant has a tin roof and an open side area which gives a good view of Palayam junction while you devour the dishes.
The classic combination of Kappa and Thalakkari, with spicy red gravy, and a good portion of fish head, served with boiled and mashed tapioca, is a true delight for the price paid. Mulaputtu and nadan chicken curry is another combo you must try. Instead of steel cylinders they use bamboo cylinders, which is said to give better taste and this dish is combined with mildly spicy chicken curry with thick gravy which suits well to be mixed with puttu.
Chicken porichathu is the favorite of the regulars who visit this restaurant. This deep fried dish with hot red color is served with masala crumbs, is the most demanded dish during their dinner hours. Fried to the core and made crispy, kozhuva fry is another popular dish from this place, with its bright red colored masala that’s worth every penny you spend on it.
This restaurant has an open kitchen setup in the middle of the dining area, where they serve dishes that are already prepared and kept and served on order. Forty people are the maximum capacity of this hotel, whose main patrons are regulars, sees awful lot more than they can handle, during their rush hours.
Parking area is nonexistent, but you can park infront of shops nearby after they close down. Chinoose may not be suitable for family customers but they do serve awesome food.
