When you think about a place to go to for all the snacks you can imagine from Kerala cuisine, there’s no better option than Chariot Food Court in Ernakulam City. Open from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm on all days of the week, this eat-out on High Court Road near Infant Jesus Church serves the best of all Kerala snacks such as Sukhiyan, Bonda, Kozhukkatta, Pazhampori and a lot more.
Everyone has a favorite when it comes to snacks, most of them at our native places and in every possibility, it will be a ‘nadan chayakada’ or a street side vendor. All though these places cannot be compared with any other in taste, it might not always be hygienic in the strict sense of the word.
Now, that is an area where Chariot Food Court excels in more than any of those places that are dedicated primarily for snacks. The dishes prepared here are made with as much care as they could, with hygiene as utmost importance at every stage. Though the taste is subjective, it can be said that this place will not disappoint you at all in any way. The crowd that turns up at this location each day proves as the best testament to the popularity of their culinary skills.
Chariot Food Court is located on High Court Road near Infant Jesus Church when you turn toward High Court Road from Banerji Road on the right side of the road. Although this place is the only one of its kind dedicated to snacks dishes, they have other restaurants at Shenoys Junction, Convent Road, Manjummel and Fort Kochi.
Sukhiyan, Bonda, Kozhukkatta, Vegetable Rolls, Undampori, Pazham Pori, etc. are some of the snacks dishes you should not miss from this place. Along with various snacks, they also serve Kerala special breakfast dishes such as Appam, Idiyappam, Idly, etc. and fried rice, chappathi, porotta dishes during their lunchtime. Make sure that you get relatively early since most of the snacks will get over in a jiffy.
They have self-service counters where you pay up first and get your dishes with the bill. There is also a one-room dining area with steel tables attached to the walls where you can put the dishes you ordered, but there are no chairs. Parcel service also gets prominent during evening hours. They do not have an own parking area, but you can park on the roadsides of the one-way street.
