An excellent restaurant serving authentic Arabian cuisine, Café d Arabia have five branches across Kerala out of which two are located near Lulu Mall at Edapally. The popular dishes from here include Fish Alfaham, Chicken Alfaham and different types of Shawarmas. It is a great place to hang out with friends and family.

Detailed Write-up

After Chinese delicacies, it is Arabian cuisine which is fast gaining popularity among food lovers in Eranakulam district. There are many hotels serving Arabian food that have come up down the years. But if you are confused over the authenticity of  such restaurants, then Café d Arabia is the chosen one.

Owned by Imthiyas and Zubin, the restaurant was established in 2010. Soon another outlet was opened too. Both the branches are located at Edapally, near Lulu Mall, just 500 metres apart. Zubin, who has been in restaurant business for 17 years in Middle East, has firsthand experience in Arabian cuisine and trained the cooks at his hotel.

‘Shawarma’ and ‘Alfaham’ are two note worthy dishes from this restaurant. Different types of Shawarma from Mexican to Lebanese are available here. ‘Mexican Shawarma’though not so spicy as you would expect, but tastes wonderful. ‘Lebanese Shawarma’ is known for Dhakoose (a hot sauce used for marinating the chicken). Chicken for shawarma is marinated for a minimum of 6 hours in mayonnaise and masala to season it properly.

‘Fish Alfaham’ is also another delicacy to try out. The special recipe is made best with Chemballi (Ribbon fish) and Vatta  (Bluefin Trevally). ‘Alfaham’,though generally a non-spicy method of preparation, is also done here in a spicy way if you want it so. The marinated fish and chicken are grilled over cinders.

The ambience of the restaurant gives you the feel of Arab countries. The use of black and golden colour paint with dim lights add glow to the surroundings. The best time to be at the place is from 5 pm to 10 pm although it is open till midnight. The restaurant near Pai Dosha has an excellent family room but both the places in Edappalli are great hangouts for youth. The place is up and running on all days except during id-ul-fitar when it is closed for a week.
