Better known by its owner’s name- Balanna’s Kada aka Kamalam Restaurant is situated at Kaithamukku near to Uplamoodu Paalam at Petta Road. Open from 5 pm to 11 pm every day except Sunday, this restaurant is famous for Parotta and other non-vegetarian dishes and serves Naadan Thattukada style food in a better ambience than the ‘Thattukadas’.
Reasonable price and good quality of food made Kamalam Restaurant aka Balanna’s Kada a prominent name among all other Thattukadas in the city.
You can get all the nadan thattukkada dishes in this restaurant. ‘Parotta’ is one of the most served items here. You can choose from a variety of chicken dishes to compliment the parotta. ‘Chicken Fry’ with slight oily chicken pieces fried till crispy and served with fried masala, chilli seeds and onion slices is undoubtedly the most preferred side dish with the parottas.
If you want a dish with gravy then go for ‘Chicken Pirattu’ instead. This dish comprises chunks of chicken pieces dunked in an average spicy masala gravy makes for a good dip to have along with the parottas. The use of fresh chicken in the preparation adds to its taste. ‘Beef Fry’ with oily and thick masala is another must-have item from this restuarant. Unlike ‘Beef Fry’ available elsewhere this one is not so dry and tastes good with the oily masala.
The kitchen is set up in the front of the restaurant. Guests waiting to take away parcels are more prominent at times than those who wish to dine in here. The parcel counter is also in the front where you need to place your order and it is immediately served. You can even see your ordered food getting prepared while you wait outside.
The parottas are made constantly owing to its huge demand and it is indeed a thing to watch. They only prepare the dishes till the stock lasts. Kamalam Restaurant aka Balanna’s Kada witnesses a huge rush especially during the dinner time. The sparkling clean dining spot would make such eateries turn green with envy. The restauranteur himself is the executive chef who is present all the time and supervises everything directly.
